Knowing and Learn from Video

      Monday, March 11, 2013 not as usual Mr. Prof. Dr. Marsigit, M. A. (our lecturer) give the different method of his teaching and learning. There are no test, no traditional teaching learning. In this moment, he ask the students to watch and learn from video. There are seven video that he showed.

      First Video, ( Knowing Math, What is Mathematics? )
      In the first video, there are two students sing a song about mathematics. They always said, “ What you know about math? What you know about math?”. According to my perception, thus show that they have a spirit and a great curiosity for mathematics. They ask to everyone about mathematics, about what mathematics is.
      Significantly    figure(important figure)   about   mathematics are there
are all contained in Trigonometry, Algebra, Graph, etc. That all is mathematics language. Language that is used in learning mathematics. Then the most important sign is the mathematical operation, namely (plus) + (minus) - (multiplication) x, and (division) ÷ . Without sign of surgery, mathematics will not be able to understand and read. In the language, operations like connecting link between sentences such as "and, or, even, etc '.
     After learning about mathematics, do not forget all the knowledge gained in a bag or put into a place that can accept in order  knowledge is not lost and can be opened again at any time. That's I can conclude from the video.
     Second Video, (English Golden X, English Algebra)
     In the second video, are showed about algebra and how to do it. Algebra in this video are still basic algebra. Let's look together.
      If there is an equality ax = b, so x is variable and a is constants (b also constants). The question is how to do this equality? The way to do it is by finding the value of x (variable). How? Remember, get variable, on side, by it self. For example, we take equality  4x = 12. The way to do this equation is   4x=12  , first make the constants of  x  become one (1), so both sides are divided by four so 4x/4=12/4 →  4x/4= 12/4, four cancel out and left x = 12/4, so x = 3(x is equal to three). Next will be proved whether the answer is correct by substituting x in the equation with  three (3) so 4(3) = 12  12=12. So, the correct answer, x = 3. Furthermore, the same question, how to finish equation 7x = 63? Create constants of the variable x is worth one (1) by dividing both sides by seven (7)7x/7 = 63/7→7x/7=63/7, so seven (7) cancel out and left x = 9. Then, demonstrated that 7 (9) = 63 then 63 = 63, so x = 9 correct.
      Next question, how if the form of the equation is ax + b = c? Suppose there are equations 5x + 3 = 18. How to solve the equation by turning it into the equation in the form ax = b. both sides reduced to three, so 5x + 3-3 = 18-3, will produce 5x + 0 = 15 (zero, this does not need) 5x = 15, like the previous way five cancel out and left x = 3 . Then it will be proved by substituting x into three (3) → 5 (3) + 3 = 18 → 15 + 3 = 18, then x = 3 is true. That is I can conclude from the video.
      Third Video, (English Function, Function)
     In the video will be discussed a little about the algebra function. How to complete the algebra function? First, we must know the value of x. If you know x, you can find y. from the equation y = 2x, if you know x = 5, so y = 10. Then, from the other equation y = 3x + 4. If you know x is two (x = 2) you will find y = 10. Y is by itself, so without x you can’t find y
      Function, relation in which each element of one set is paired with one.  Talking about the relation in mathematical functions, there are two kind of relation. They are equality and inequality. Equality is represented by an equal sign (=), equality produces one result and it is by it self. While inequality is denoted with an asterisk > / ≥ (more than / more than or equal to) and </ ≤ (less than / less than or equal to). Examples of inequality is 8 > 5.
      Suppose there is an equation, y = 3x + 4, three x plus four is function of x, so it can be written y = f (x) = 3x + 4. And how to complete is put the function in not standard in to standard. To find out everything we need to know the vocabulary of algebra. This can I take from the third video.
      Fourth Video, ( English Degree, Knowing Degree)
      Degree is one full clock rotation. Then, three hundred sixty degree (360°) is one full circle. That way we know the meaning of 11 ° is 11/360 full revolution. Ninety degree (90 °) is right angel, angel 180 ° is straight Because it straight. Then we will talk about radians. Radian is the angle facing the center of the circle along the arc radius.
      Degree an radian have a relation. So important to learn convert degree to radian and radian to degree( degree⇄radian ), the following is an explanations: known that 360° = 2π radian then both sides are divided by two, (360°)/2= 2π/2, two cancel out and left π=180°.  Then, the two sides divided by 180 scilicet (180°)/180= π/180, produce 1° = π/180, so 1° = π/180radians and 1 radians = (180°)/π  then, look the following example: convert 120° to radians , so 120° = 120 x 1°, then  120° x π/180= 2/3 π radians. Well, also the otherwise, convert 11π/12 radians to degree, first give number of radians, 1 rad = (180°)/π, so 11π/12  rad= 11π/12  x 1radians → 11π/12  x  (180°)/π , produce 165° .

      Fifth Video, ( The Integer )
     Integer is whole and their negative number. While the whole number itself can not be negative and not a fraction or decimal. In round numbers, of course we know where the line in the line are integers. The line is called a number line. Number line is made up of two lines, the horizontal and vertical lines. Number line is forever, it means that no end (infinity). If from a central point, zero point zero (0.0) to the right of the generating positive number. Then move to the left if the produce negative number.
     In the integers, we also know the digits. What's digits? Digits is a number ranging from 0-9 (zero up to nine). Set of digits to form numbers that have special meaning in every place. For example, 1492. Two is the unit, nine is ten place, is four hundred place, and one is thousand place. That is I can take from the video.
